If You Are Not

If You Are Not By: Ibukun.S If you’re not like I am, A fairy-like creature, Strong, soft and sweet like jam, Don’t shed a tear When I say you can’t be here, You can’t live here, You can’t survive here. If you’re not like I am, You can’t stay long. Unlock the doors to your ears, Grab the camera And listen to my tongue. If you’re not from the tall, Friendly trees that occupy the Fertile land, One that willingly shares its Nutrients with its close friend, The land, Then you don’t know care, You don’t know support, You can’t be fair But selfish of all sorts! If you’re not like I am, A being accustomed to the Waters, The calm, rhythmic, patient Bodies that glistened at the Contact of its lover, The sun, You don’t know peace, You don’t know tranquility. Even when the body becomes a Beast, Forget not it is still your Responsibility. If you cannot manage the rage, The pain, the hurt, carried by the Roaring, angry, disappointed Waters That pushed away its lover and Drew closer to the side it Promised not to turn to, Then you have not learnt, You have not improved, You have not fixed the dent, And THEY wouldn’t approve. If you’re not like I am, You wouldn’t be it, You wouldn’t feel it.

The gentle whispers of the wind “whoosh” Or its tender hands gracefully Caressing your skin. “What’s for lunch?” “Oh hush. Forget the little things” “But I can’t” “Let your mind be at ease” Oh you mortals, as stubborn as bees. You reject the whispers, You long for the opposite, want the bitter sweet Yet feel pleased by the blisters? If you cannot be free, If you cannot let it be, Then you cannot be me, For you most certainly have lost the key.
